The free address
Every project gets one straight away. Changing it is a house move, not a rename.
The “Addresses and domains” screen shows the address your site has answered at from the first moment, without buying anything. You can change the part you chose.
The field checks the name against the addresses already taken as you type, so a clash shows up before you save rather than after.
The old address stops answering the moment the change is saved. A link already sent by e-mail, a QR code printed on a flyer, a link in a paid ad — all of them stop working.
An address change is written to the log with the old and the new address. The address of a deleted project stays taken, so restoring that project cannot land it on somebody else's site.
